Campaign Story
Westlake Village is a thriving multi-cultural community of nearly 20 000 residents that live in a combination of low-cost houses and informal structures near Tokai in Cape Town. Since its inception in 2001, Westlake United Church Trust (WUCT) has lived alongside the Community responding to their needs by providing education, healthcare and social and information services.
WUCT activities include running a pre-school for 80 children, providing a daily feeding scheme for local children, operating a Community Advice Office, facilitating an HIV/AIDS support group and delivering skills training courses, including handicrafts, home management, baking and carpentry. The Trust’s future projects include setting up a primary school, creating a care center for vulnerable children, and renovating a hall to use as a community center.
